Am I crazy for leaving a current teaching job of 14 years in Michigan to move to Florida?

I never thought that I would retire in Michigan. Originally from AL, been in MI for 20 years. I recently went job hunting in Florida and got a teaching job offer for a lot less than what I currently am getting in Michigan. I also have 2 small children, ages 6 and 7 who will be with me. My husband will remain in MI for at least 6 months or more to tie up loose ends like selling our house. He is an industrial electrician and has 22 years in with his company. I want to go for several reasons: better long term job opportunities in administration, warm weather, water access, closer to my own family, and I think a better quality of life. I KNOW it is not going to be easy, but there are so many factors. My current job is in a tiny, suburban school district with NO room for growth. I can't change districts in-state because other districts in MI do not give credit for years worked. The new district in FL is huge with potential for financial growth, but money is not my only concern. Am I being selfish? Am I making a HUGE mistake? Please feel free to give me some neutral advice on helping our family make a final decision!!! What other factors should I include? HELP!

How does an Opiod-tolerant patient get pain refief?

Im suffering from severe back pain and paralysis of my left hand and other similar symptoms, from an injury at work. I am also almost completely opiod-tolerant, I lack the opiate receptors due to a birth deffect. I've been placed on many different narcotics from Vicodin to Oxycontin and I have limited ir zero relief. I'm an EMT on a medic unit with the County Fire dept here, so I have some medical background. I was sent to a pain "specialist" who was completely useless. He lectured me about the dangers and then tried to convince me that there is a new painkiller that really works, it's called "Acetominophen". When I asked him why he thought that tylenol would work he got very flustered and just mumbled for a bit. Anyway, how do I get relief when I'm so tolerant that nothing works? I am mindful of addiction, every week I go over 24 hours and just take NSAIDS for acute pain to make sure i have no behavioral patterns of addiction or suffer withdrawls.

What can I give a dog to knock them out?

I saw how someone was completely berated on Yahoo Answers about asking how to knock out their dog. But what if the situation was for their best? I have looked for help in this situation from a vet, animal shelters, the ASPCA, and the Humane Society. I get pretty much ignored in all instances. There are 2 stray dogs that have been around my work place for about a year now. They are scared of people and run away if you try to get too close. I have tried standing for over an hour with beef jerky and cooked hamburger. They won't even get close. We feed them but they wait until no one is around before they come eat. If you try to get close while they are eating they run away. I don't own a trap and the local animal shelter will not allow me to use them. They also will not try to pick up the animals. The vet said it was a shame but would not suggest how I could catch them. I have not received a response from anyone else that would be willing to help. It's deer season here and people are shooting all around. Also, this building is dangerously close to the interstate and I'm afraid they will be hit. I need to catch them and try to help them but I can't get close. If I could make them sleep for a few hours I can get them home to a big fenced in yard and try to get them healthy. One of the dogs is pregnant and I can't think of the babies being in this environment. Please help!

What Dog Breed Has Reddish Pads/Feet?

Hi. About three months ago my g/f and I got a puppy and we were told it was a schnoodle. Well as she started to grow we immediately noticed this was not the case. She is now almost five months and we pretty much gather she is a cairn terrier mix, but predominately cairn terrier. Only thing is...the pads on the bottom of her feet (and her feet are very large for such a small dog) are like a reddish burnt sienna color. PMS Symptoms for 3+ weeks, no period.?

I'm posting this here because the women on this board have helped me in the past. I've been on Mirena for almost 3 years. Throughout my experience with it, I've skipped a couple of periods (1-2 per yr) but usually i get it every 28-30 days. When I miss a period, I've always gotten the next one back on the original schedule. The only issue I have with it is that I get a few cysts per year as well and I get a lot of pain and cramping during ovulation time, but it's worth it for the peace of mind. I know periods can stop during Mirena use, however all of the literature I've read suggests that "if it's going to happen, it'll happen within the first year". I've been cramping for 3 weeks now, got sore on and off during the last week (which actually isn't one of my normal PMS symptoms - even from before Mirena), bloated as if I'm due to start, I'm breaking out on my face and chest, but yet no period. It's been over 2 months since I've had a period, and so much cramping in the last 3 weeks has me concerned in conjunction with the lack of period. I've always been able to feel my strings (albeit they're short), but haven't been able to locate them in the last week I've been checking. I highly doubt pregnancy, since the Mirena is highly effective - but has anyone else experienced changes like these after using the Mirena for so long? Mostly anything I can find is related to issues within the first year.

A question about jack o' lanterns?

Is there a reason we cut the top off the pumpkin, clean it out and set the top back on as opposed to cutting the bottom out, and pulling the pumpkin off the base. It seems to me this woul make it easier to clean out as you could cut a bigger hole, you could put the candle on the bottom without reaching your hand in, and it would make the pumpkin look "cooler", more complete because there wouldn't be a hole in the top of the head and you could grab it by the handle. Would it be impolite to ask for the basket back when I leave a baby on someone's doorstep?

I know it might be a lot to ask, but it's a family heirloom. I'm also not sure how I'd go about getting it back. I wouldn't want to leave my home address on it because for all I know some weirdo might find the basket, but I think a kindly worded note may persuade the basket finder to leave the empty basket at a neutral location for me to pick up later. While camping a couple of months ago I came up with a great idea for a way to modify an existing product that I was using. I looked online from a consumer's standpoint to see if I could find anybody else who was selling this product as I had imagined it, and couldn't find anything like it. I then created a prototype that works as well as I had imagined and hoped it would, and have just started learning about patents and the patenting process. I have since also done a Google patent search and a uspto.gov search and couldn't find any mention of this component of product modification there either. Problem is, while doing a little more research into the general way that this product is made, I came across a tutorial site that gave using my modification as an option, even though like I said I have never seen this product sold with this option. I am a little bummed and wondering how to proceed from here. I already had came up with a name and logo for my product and everything. Are some non-technological ideas/modifications so simple that they are fair game for anybody to create and try to market? I envisioned my product would mainly be sold through a website and festivals but I'm sure if it was on the shelves in stores next to what is available out there now it would be very popular!

No but you will try anyway, some things that will help, make sure that a flashing overlaps your gutter, so that the water doesn't go between the gutter and the roof, then finds it's way into your basement, keep gutters cleaned out and not leaking, have a downspout that effectively Carries the water away from the basement. You can seal away from the inside, and first little heave or move of the earth and the seal is gone. If you are only getting as little moisture as you indicate then if you did the things that I advised most probably you would not have a problem.

I have wondered about this and I have come to believe that part of it may be the constant reminding of the event. i was diagnosed with a chest infection 2 weeks ago and prescribed antibiotics which finished almost a week ago but still have a chesty cough with phlegm and an extremely sore chest when i take a deep breath. i have had alot of chest infections before but never had this soreness when i breathe in, should i go and get the repeat of my antibiotics (that didn't seem to work) or go see the doc again?

Calm down, take deep breaths, and go to a therapist - it may help. Though usually these problems are because of home life. Is there anything that would make him ad or stressed? Give him more compliments - even on the small stuff - keep him around the house but at the same time - let him be free a little - so he doesn't feel like you cant trust him - give him all your love - but don't fawn on him all day long. Though you dont have a reason to trust him - he needs someone there for him - he may be doing this from peer pressure as well - watch his friends - meet there parents and make sure they are nice and mature. I have a Gibson SG Standard (yes, I know I'm spoiled). Anyway, I like to play a lot of metal and I hear that there are better pickups that create a better tone for the music I play (metal). Also it doesn't tend to pick up pinch or artifical harmonics that well so are there any pickups that can make them stand out more? But, I also don't want to be like all metal. 8 1/2 weeks after arthroscopic surgery, pain still persist... doctor laughs!?

about 8 1/2 weeks ago i had arthroscopic surgery to remove the majority of my medial meniscus (had a very nasty large bucket handle tear... and im just 18, sucks!)(doctor/surgeon said he removed the most meniscus from me he has his past 20 some odd years as a surgeon from any other patient of his) anyways i managed to do this when i accidentally popped my knee out of socket in the process of jumping in the air and upon landing all my weight (235lb's) landed on the knee which was OUT OF SOCKET STILL.... yeah very nasty... and very extremely painful, couldn't feel my leg other than an very intense throbbing pain which seemed to echo throughout my whole body for about 4 hours afterwards. SO ANYWAYS i work a very physical job involving moving inflatables (bounce houses and such) around with dolly carts up and down loading ramps into box trucks and trailers... and enjoy it very much! problem is, after working the days job my knee just throbs of pain... like a 7 on a pain scale of 1-10. the problem is my surgeon/doctor claims my knee shouldn't hurt as bad as i claim 8 1/2 weeks post surgery... but my knee honestly says otherwise... he insist on Darvocet and Ultracet but they are not doing much for the pain... they both do about the same as Tylenol, Motrin, and Aspirin... which kinda just "cover" the pain "somewhat"... but its still painful (like hard to walk on)...what do i do, constantly insist i get a higher up pain killer or what? he just laughs at me when i explain the pain i have... and its not funny, should i see another doctor? by the way i have been in physical therapy for about 2 weeks now (which seems to make it more painful) but i know i need to do it.

My son is scared of using the toilet or potty HELP!?

My son is 2 and a half and is so scared of the toilet and a potty. We tried him with a new toilet seat and he screams and shakes when hes on it. I take him 2 the toilet with me and show him there's nothing to be scared about but he still wont go. I bought him a normal potty and he wont use that and ive just bought him a car potty with a lift up seat. He sits on it with seat down but not up. Tonight I tried him running around without a nappy which i do often and tried to catch the pee in a container and he just stopped peeing cried and ran off. I then sat him down and tilted the bowl towards him to catch it and gave him juice and read a story, He then cried and cried so i let him up and he peed i went 2 catch it and he stopped and cried again. He also has Speech problems and cannot talk apart from mama baba Nana ETC. I didn't understand why hes so scared. he goes from calm to petrified in 2 seconds. He doesn't just cry he physical shakes and cried like hes being hurt. Any ideas please i have no idea what to do ??

Hi all, I have a Scion Xa 06 and it has only 15,000 miles with only two years of use. Three days ago, the check engine light turned itself on (again) and I do not know what the problem is. Last time, the dealership told me that it is due to the parts located in the gas tank. I'm very upset about this especially when I bought it new and has only so few miles on it and usage. Skullcandy Xbox 360 Headset Problem?

Recently bought a pair of the Lowrider SGS headset. Everything is connected but the problem is in for example im in the Halo: Reach lobby, but the thing is is that it says im talking but im not saying everything, and everything is connected as it showed me in the instructions with the package. Now I already know blah blah set it to WMA pro and voice to both and set it to 10. Ive tried all that and it still hasent fixed my problem at all. I read around that I can but a inline volume control for a 2.5mm jack, I dont know if that will help me at all. Another problem is that I cant talk when I can hear at the same time, and its the other way around, i have to unplug one cord to use the other. Like when I want to hear both chat and game audio I have to unplug my mic, but when I want to chat, I have to unplug the other cable, that ruins the point of having the headset. But when I have everything connected it works, but it still says my mic is hot and people complain like im saying things during matches but im not saying anything. I have no problem sending 25MB sized email attachments. I can't explain why you are having problems. What you should do, is look at the help section in Yahoo email. They have answers to alot of common issues that can happen on occasion. Right now, I know there is two glitches in the email program that Yahoo is working on, and trying to resolve. Some times your Internet browser can cause problems with it as well. They explain that all though in the Help section. Yahoo is rated as having one of the better email setups out there.

I really want to learn more about Finland, and would like to connect with ppl. from there, (since I can't afford a trip to visit Finland personally). Do you consider people from CT, NJ, Westchester, Upstate, and Long Island tourists?

If they are touring than yes. Many people from CT, NJ and Suffolk are commuters into Manhattan because they work there and play there quite a bit so, in my opinion not so much for them. No matter how geographically close they are, they are not New Yorkers with the exception of Suffolk County. Most of these people were from NYC and know a lot about it. Upstate NY is like a another world. When I go there they see me as tourist same goes for NJ and CT.
